Hardly any time has passed since GPD confirmed the existence of the first AMD Strix Halo-powered gaming handheld. As recent Geekbench listings suggested, the company will put the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 inside the successor to the Win 4 (curr. $1,369 on Amazon) rather than a larger device such as a new Win Max or GPD Duo.
For the time being, GPD has only confirmed that the Win 5 will officially debut early next month during ChinaJoy 2025 in Shanghai. However, it has seemingly authorised The Phawx to share technical specifications, which we have embedded below.
While the Win 5 may look like its predecessor in many areas, it departs from GPD's current 6-inch gaming handheld in almost every area. For one, GPD has switched to a 7-inch, 1080p, 120 Hz and VRR-enabled display that it already uses in the Win Mini 2025. Moreover, it lacks a keyboard and even a built-in battery.
Instead, GPD has used the space that an internal battery would typically take up to maximise cooling capabilities. As a result, GPD will ship an 80 Wh external battery pack. Currently, The Phawx reports that the Win 5 will begin shipping in October 2025. In the meantime, the YouTuber suggests that Ryzen AI Max+ 395 variants could retail for over $1,500 with 32 GB of RAM. Presumably, the device will cost less when configured with the lesser Ryzen AI Max 385, though.
