Nintendo Switch 2 OLED may be coming, frame of rumored prototype listed on auction site

The Nintendo Switch 2 is selling like hotcakes, but some gamers are already hoping for the next iteration. The rumor mill is churning that the next Switch 2 model may already be in the works, and it may have an OLED screen.

Gazlog, a Japanese tech news site, reported that what many speculate to be the frame of a Switch 2 prototype has appeared on a Chinese "flea market" (likely auction) site. The frame does look similar to that of the current Switch 2 (curr. available at Amazon for $449.00), except for its color, which is white.

This new color has led to rumors that this frame may be for a prototype of a Switch 2 with an OLED screen. This speculation is based on the fact that the original Switch OLED also sported a white color scheme with black accents. 

As with all rumors, take this wild guess with a huge grain of salt. It is equally likely that this is a frame for a standard Nintendo Switch 2 that either was not painted, only had a coat of primer applied, or may have been an abandoned white color. There are no other pointers leading one to believe this could be an OLED Switch 2. 

This is one of the first of what is likely to be many rumors surrounding the launch of a supposed Switch 2 OLED. It is possible that Nintendo will release an OLED model of the new handheld, but that likely will not come for several years. Considering the Switch 2 has only been on the market for a few months, it is not likely Nintendo would release a new model this early in the console's lifecycle.
