Since its launch on September 27, 2022, Grounded has been a huge success over the years. With a score of 7.8 on Metacritic, the game had a good basis for a sequel. And Obsidian understood this, as the studio decided to launch a second episode to the delight of fans. But while early access will soon take place on PC and Xbox, some people are wondering whether the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 will be involved in the sequel.
Eurogamer therefore decided to take matters into its own hands, and spoke to to executive producer Marcus Morgan to find out if a PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 version is planned for Grounded 2. It has to be said that some people believe this will necessarily be the case, as most Xbox games are released on other platforms.
As a result, Marcus Morgan spoke out on the subject, adding: "I can't talk about it at the moment. But I will say that Grounded 1 is available on all these platforms, so...". As you can see, nothing is official yet, and no announcement has been made. However, according to the executive producer, it could well happen in the future.
Moreover, Grounded 2 will have to pass through the early access phase starting July 29 on PC and Xbox Series before moving on to side projects. And considering the length of the early access period for the first opus, which lasted around two years, it's possible to imagine the same for the sequel.
But Obsidian seems confident about this new opus, and recently unveiled a new trailer. It highlights the game's narrative, showing players that Ominent's experiments didn't have the desired effect and even failed because the insects weren't able to collaborate with the teenagers. And all this heralds many twists and turns for this new title, which fans are sure to appreciate.
