The XMG PRO 16 Value Edition expands the PRO 16 line-up with additional entry-level configurations featuring the older Intel Raptor Lake-R Core i9-14900HX CPU and GPU options like Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5070 Ti / 5070 /5060. Other notable features include a bright 1600p IPS display with 300 Hz refresh rate, Mini DisplayPort 2.1 connector, SD Express card reader and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.

XMG updated the PRO 16 gaming laptops earlier this spring with the new RTX 5070 Ti GPUs and the Core Ultra 9 275HX processors, and the company now expands the lineup with a Value Edition version that features “entry-level” CPU and three GPU options for more restricted budgets focused on the price-performance ratio.

XMG PRO 16 VE detailed specs

The new XMG PRO 16 Value Edition is equipped with the older yet still reliable Intel Core i9-14900HX integrating 24 cores that can be complemented with up to 96 GB DDR5 RAM via two SO-DIMM slots. Storage is ensured by two M.2 PCIe 4.0 slots that can be configured with various capacities up to 4 TB.

On the GPU side, XMG offers a choice between the RTX 5060, RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti mobile chips. When equipped with a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, the cooling system of the PRO 16 and PRO 16 VE is identical. It has only been adjusted in the RTX 5070 and 5060 configurations due to the lower power consumption of these GPUs. All available graphics cards consistently operate at NVIDIA’s maximum specified power limits. Including Dynamic Boost, the RTX 5070 Ti runs at 140 watts, while the RTX 5070 and 5060 reach 115 watts.

Display-wise, the XMG PRO VE features an IPS panel with 2,560 x 1,600 resolution in a 16:10 format, 300 Hz refresh rate, 500 nit maximum brightness, and 100% coverage of both the sRGB and DCI-P3 colour spaces. There is also a Full HD webcam with physical privacy shutter.

Given the value proposition, port selection is missing Thunderbolt 4, but it still features the Mini DisplayPort 2.1 video out at the back, together with an HDMI 2.1 and a full-option USB-C 3.2 Gen2. On the sides, we find another full-option USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, three USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet jack, a high-speed full-size SD Express-compatible card reader, and a 2-in-1 audio jack. Wireless connectivity is provided with a Wi-Fi 7 + BT 5.4 card.

The 16-inch chassis remains unchanged from the non-VE version, as the PRO 16 VE also measures 356.7 x 252.5 x 26.5 mm, weighs 2.4 kg including the 99.8 Wh battery and is distinguished by high build quality, with an aluminium display lid. Moreover, the keyboard is unchanged from PRO 16 and NEO 16, with full numeric keypad, full-size offset arrow keys, RGB per-key backlighting, anti-ghosting, and N-key rollover.

XMG PRO 16 (M25) update

With the introduction of the VE version, the PRO 16 (M25) model gets improved display options, as well. In addition to the 500-nit, 300 Hz IPS panel, which now offers 100% coverage of both the sRGB and DCI-P3 colour spaces, the laptop can be configured with an optional Mini LED display. This one features the same 2,560 x 1,600 resolution and 300 Hz refresh rate but is brighter with 750 nits in SDR and up to 1,000 nits in HDR, plus it supports local dimming, which can be disabled if desired, and covers 100% of both the sRGB and DCI-P3 colour spaces.
