Differences over the standard version include a less-demanding Zen 4-based Ryzen 7 H 255 processor paired with the RTX 5060, as well as a smaller 80 Wh battery plus a display with almost halved refresh rate. By integrating these budget-oriented changes, XMG lowers the starting price for the Core 16 VE to €1,399 (€1,329.05 with Black Deals discount).

XMG is adding a value-oriented 16-inch variant to this year’s Core lineup. By focusing on budget-conscious components, the Core 16 VE (Value Edition) starts at €200 less than the standard version launched in mid-August. In order to lower the starting price to €1,399, XMG is equipping the Core 16 VE with a AMD Ryzen 7 H 255 processor featuring eight Zen 4 cores and sixteen threads, which can be paired with the RTX 5060 dGPU. Since the processor has lower power requirements, the battery capacity was also reduced from 99.8 to 80 Wh. One last slight downgrade is on the display side that gets an almost halved maximum refresh rate and drops DCI-P3 full coverage.

Detailed specs

Foundation-wise, the VE model is essentially unchanged from the regular model. The VE still features an aluminium chassis measuring 357 x 254 x 23 mm and weighing just 2.1 kg. The cooling system remains the same as well, so the individual components can run at near-max TDPs in sustained mode. As such, the CPU can peak at 100 W for around 1 minute and then only drop to 90 W in sustained mode. The GPU, on the other hand, can run at its maximum 115 W TGP sustained, and the CPU + GPU sustained rating hits 160 W.

The display offers the same 2560 x 1600 resolution with 500 nit max brightness from the standard version. However, now that the only GPU option is the RTX 5060, lowering the refresh rate to 180 Hz makes sense. Color gamut covers 100% of the sRGB spectrum, but DCI-P3 is not fully covered anymore.

RAM and storage support remains the same from the standard version, with 128 GB DDR5-5600 maximum capacity and up to 16 TB SSD storage capacity via 2x M.2 PCIe 4.0 slots.

Port selection is also unchanged from the standard XMG Core 16 and features an HDMI 2.1 port with 48 Gbps bandwidth plus a DP40-compatible Mini DisplayPort 2.1, a USB4 port with Thunderbolt compatibility, 140-watt power delivery (20 V, 7 A) and integrated DisplayPort 2.1 with DP40, and the connector for the 240-watt power supply on the back side. The right and left sides include USB-C 3.2 Gen2 port with DisplayPort 1.4a and 100-watt power delivery, three USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, a Gigabit LAN port, a 2-in-1 audio jack for headset and microphone, and a full-size SD Express-compatible card reader. Wi-Fi 6E + BT 5.3 wireless connectivity is provided via an M.2 card. The same RGB keyboard, trackpad and FHD webcam from the standard version are available for the VE variant, too.

Price and availability

The base configuration of the XMG Core 16 VE (M25) includes 16 (2 x 8) GB DDR5-5600 RAM and a 1 TB Samsung 990 EVO Plus SSD. The regular starting price is €1,399, including 19% VAT. The laptop is in stock and available to order with immediate effect.

As part of the ongoing Black Deals promotion, bestware.com is offering a 5 per cent discount on the Core 16 VE until December 2nd – reducing the starting price to €1,329.05.
