Chuwi has returned to its CoreBook series with the CoreBook Air, four months after dipping its toes into the world of gaming laptops. Meanwhile, the company updated the CoreBook X with a newer Intel processor in April around the time it released the MiniBook X 2-in-1 with the Processor N150 (curr. $349 on Amazon).
By contrast, the new CoreBook Air adopts AMD APUs. According to Liliputing and a recent MadTechTalk video, Chuwi will eventually offer the CoreBook Air with a Ryzen 5 6600H from AMD's Rembrant generation with Zen 3+ CPU cores and a Radeon 660M iGPU. However, Pegasus is already selling a Ryzen 7 H 255 variant with newer Zen 4 cores and a more powerful Radeon 780M iGPU. For reference, the latter enjoys a 34% performance boost over the former in our benchmarks.
Additionally, the retailer currently only shows a 14-inch variant with a 2,240 x 1,400-pixel and 60 Hz IPS display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. Moreover, this model features a 60 W battery, 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage for HKD 4,599 (~$591) within a package that weighs rougly 1 kg.
Apparently, a 16-inch variant is coming, too. Called the CoreBook Air Plus, the larger variant adopts a 1200p display and a Windows Hello-compatible IR camera. Weighing in at between 1.3 kg and 1.43 kg, the CoreBook Air Plus retains the same 60 Wh battery as its 14-inch counterpart. Currently, Chuwi expects to start selling the CoreBook Air and CoreBook Air Plus globally from next month.
