An Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor has been tested on PassMark, with the new laptop chip producing a superlative performance in the overall CPU test suite. The Arrow Lake-HX part topped the CPU Mark chart for mobile processors with a score of 61,010, placing it +6.83% ahead of AMD’s Ryzen 9 7945HX3D. It’s not listed which laptop was used for testing the 24-core monster, although it has been linked with powerful notebooks like the Asus ROG Strix Scar 16, Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 10, and the MSI Vector 16 HX AI.
The Core Ultra 9 275HX didn’t quite manage to take the single thread performance crown yet, despite this type of benchmark being a specialty for Team Blue. A group of Apple chips, including the M3 Max 16 Core, M3 Max 14 Core, M3 Pro 11 Core, and M3 8 Core, has prevented the Arrow Lake-HX chip from reaching the pinnacle. It’s clear that these chips are optimized for this particular benchmark test, as they even outpace their M4 successors here. But with only one sample tested, there is still time for the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX to upset the apple cart.
As most PC enthusiasts know, AMD tends to focus on multi-core processing performance, so it’s no surprise that this 5.4 GHz-capable Intel chip is far ahead of the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D in the single thread performance table. The Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX has a +16.4% lead over the challenger from Team Red, and it is still +13.9% ahead of the nearest rival from AMD in this particular benchmark – the also clumsily named Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 375. As for the Core Ultra 9 275HX’s performance result increase over the Core i9-14900HX (featured in laptops like the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9) – that stands at a very healthy +33.7% in the CPU Mark test suite benchmark.
