A recent leak has further corroborated rumors speculating about the pricing of Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox ROG Ally and Ally X handhelds alongside their pre-order launch date. The Xbox ROG Ally will retail for €599, while the more powerful ROG Ally X will clock in at a premium €899 price tag.
Reliable French leaker and news reporter from Dealabs, billbil-kun, indicated that the pre-order launch date for the Xbox ROG Ally lineup was August 20, 2025, fitting perfectly with Microsoft’s Xbox Gamescom 2025 live stream from Cologne, Germany, which broadcasts at 3:00 PM CEST.
The event, running from August 20 to 24, will allow eager fans to enjoy a hands-on preview of the Xbox ROG Ally and Ally X, as stated in the Xbox Wire blog post. The Xbox Gamescom 2025 broadcast will confirm pricing, reveal the official release date, and launch pre-orders just as Gamescom 2025 kicks off.
Earlier this month, Spanish gaming insider @extas1s first broke the news about the pricing of the Xbox ROG Ally and Ally X on their X account. This leak gained further credibility when an authorized Spanish retailer briefly listed price tags on their website. However, the listing was subsequently taken down.
Although Microsoft has yet to announce the exact release date for the handhelds, the company hinted at a vague “Holiday 2025” launch window at their Xbox Games Showcase in June. The Xbox Gamescom 2025 broadcast is expected to confirm pricing, pre-order launch dates, and the official release date in tandem with the event’s kickoff.
The Xbox ROG Ally and Ally X have been developed in partnership with Asus to deliver a console-like experience powered by a custom Windows 11 interface with Xbox integration. The standard ROG Ally features an AMD Ryzen Z2 A chip, 16GB LPDDR5X-6400 RAM, 512GB SSD, and a 60Wh battery. The premium ROG Ally X features a Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip under the hood, 24GB of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a high-capacity 80Wh battery.
Both models will feature a 7-inch 1080p 120Hz VRR-capable IPS display, with support for Xbox Game Pass, Steam, Epic Games Store, and other third-party platforms. Still, the gaming community has a few concerns regarding €899 premium price tag, with some calling it “the most expensive Xbox console ever.”
As an added plus for those considering it, Gamescom 2025 attendees will get to play Hollow Knight: Silksong, Sea of Thieves, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 at the ASUS ROG booth.
