After months of speculation, Asus has finally confirmed the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X prices. Unfortunately, for U.S. gamers, the MSRPs are higher than previous leaks had suggested. The cheaper gaming handheld will cost buyers $599.99, while the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme version demands $999.99. Pre-orders begin shortly at multiple retailers, with shipping expected on October 16th. The ROG Xbox Ally X is currently a Best Buy exclusive.
Pricing in other regions:
- Europe: €599.99/€899.99
- UK: £499.99/£799.99
- Canada: $799.99 CAD/$1299.99 CAD
- Australia: $799.99 AUD/$1599.99 AUD
Fans had expected Microsoft to announce the prices for the Windows 11 handhelds at Gamescom 2025. Instead, it delayed the news after deciding to further examine challenging economic conditions. Just weeks before the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X release date, buyers can now decide to set aside funds or consider alternatives.
For European customers, the newly announced information matches recent leaks. On the other hand, on September 13th, YouTuber Destin shared photos of a Best Buy demo display. Verified by an employee, the pictures included prices of $549.99/$899.99. Apparently, Microsoft and Asus made a last-minute change to their plans, or the information wasn’t correct.
Choosing between the new Xbox gaming handhelds
Both gaming handhelds feature 7-inch 1080p 120Hz displays and take advantage of the new Xbox full-screen experience. With a 1TB SSD, the ROG Xbox Ally X doubles the storage of the less expensive model and ups its memory capacity to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Another significant difference is its Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, which should provide a performance boost.
The ROG Xbox Ally X has to convince enthusiasts not to opt for a handheld with an OLED screen, like the new Lenovo Legion Go 2. Meanwhile, the lower-end Xbox Ally faces competition from the Steam Deck LCD, recently discounted to $319.99. For buyers seeking more selection, the revised Windows UI will come to other devices in 2026.
