Microsoft’s delay in announcing the Asus ROG Xbox Ally price hasn’t prevented stores like Best Buy from providing clues. The latest leak, courtesy of UK retailer Argos, indicates that the gaming handheld will cost £499.99. A worker who shared the promotional materials believes pre-orders could begin imminently. While not shocking, the ROG Xbox Ally may be slightly less expensive than previously reported.
Unfortunately, the flyer doesn’t include the more powerful ROG Xbox Ally X. Still, the Redditor guessed that it may cost buyers £799. In July, video game publication 3DJuegos captured information from an Asus partner store in Spain. The ROG Xbox Ally price was listed at €599, with a ROG Xbox Ally X price of €899. Direct conversions are often misleading, but those would equate to roughly £523/£785 for UK customers.
For U.S. buyers, YouTuber Destin Legarie shared Best Buy photos, showing $549.99/$899.99 price tags for the Ryzen Z2 and Ryzen Z2 Extreme handhelds. With tariffs complicating matters, it’s even more difficult to make assumptions about MSRPs in USD. Also, in Europe, prices typically include VAT charges, whereas U.S. sales tax is often an additional expense. Regardless, if the leaks are correct, the costs for the gaming handhelds are in the lower end of predictions.
Microsoft could reveal ROG Xbox Ally price soon
There are reasons to doubt the validity of the Argos sales materials. In another photo, one picture is actually of the ROG Xbox Ally X with £499.99 below it. As the source of the photos admits, the retailer also has a history of being mistake-prone.
Despite any doubts, it’s unlikely that Microsoft can continue to waffle on the MSRP for Windows 11 devices much longer. The ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X release date is set for October 16th. It’s possible that buyers will finally learn confirmed prices at the Tokyo Game Show. The company will have demos for the handhelds set up at the convention and may make an announcement during a September 25th press event.
