MagicX has announced plans to refresh its Zero 40 gaming handheld with a nostalgic colour option. Lining up later this month, the new Emerald Green variant will adopt a translucent finish for the first time, too.

The Zero 40 has been around for a while now (curr. $94.99 on Amazon). Specifically, MagicX started selling the Zero 40 in June. As it goes, the gaming handheld impressed in early reviews, in part thanks to its focus on emulating TATE and Nintendo DS games.

As we covered earlier this week, MagicX is now preparing to introduce the One35 after months of teasers. For reference, MagicX will open One35 pre-orders on October 10. In the meantime, the company plans to refresh the Zero 40 with a new colour option.

To recap, the company currently sells the Zero 40 in black and white opaque colour options. Both variants measure 136 x 105 x 17 mm and weigh 182 g, though. Likewise, all models feature an Allwinner A133P chipset, 2 GB of DDR4 RAm, a 4,300 mAh battery and a 4-inch display that outputs at 480 x 800 pixels.

From September 28, MagicX will also offer its unusual gaming handheld in 'Emerald Green' as a throwback to the Nintendo 64. As the images below show, Emerald Green has a translucent finish to provide a peek at the handheld's internal hardware. Apparently, the new variant will start at $71, too.
