Footage showing what could be Anbernic's next retro gaming handheld has surfaced online. Rumoured to be the Anbernic RG DS, the device is the spitting image of the Nintendo DS Lite and Nintendo DSi.

Anbernic has just released the RG476H with hardware that takes elements from both the RG557 and RG Slide (curr. $199 on Amazon). Typically, the company introduces new devices monthly. Thus, one should reasonably expect Anbernic to begin teasing its next device soon.

For instance, initial RG476H teasers followed roughly a month after Anbernic released the RG477M in early August. Although that has not occurred yet, an alleged promotional video showing what is expected to be Anbernic's next release has now emerged on Chinese social media. Embedded below, the device is reputed to be the RG DS whose existence was rumoured earlier this month.

As its name suggests, the RG DS is Anbernic's attempt at recreating Nintendo DS series handhelds like the DS Lite or DSi. However, Anbernic has adjusted the control layout to accommodate two recessed joysticks. From the video below, the Anbernic RG DS also has two rear-facing USB Type-C ports, a microSD card slot and in-line shoulder buttons. Additionally, the buttons beneath the device's joysticks indicate that the Anbernic RG DS will run Android rather than a Linux distribution.
