The Anbernic RG477M Android gaming handheld was announced in August and has been available to buy since then. While the device can be ordered directly from Anbernic's website, there's now the option to purchase it from Amazon, albeit for a slightly higher price.
According to an Amazon listing, the metal-clad handheld is available for $299.99, although the listing does say that's a discounted price (original price is $359.99). Nevertheless, buyers are getting the highest configuration, which has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Both Silver and Bronze (Copper) color options are available, and the item ships from Amazon.
While Amazon's $299.99 price tag is higher than the MSRP of $269.99 if you purchase directly from the manufacturer's website, it should be noted that Anbernic will ship the handheld from China and charge extra for shipping. Depending on where you live in the US, shipping may cost as much as $25, which would bring the total to $294.99. This is just a few dollars less than Amazon's selling price.
In addition, Anbernic states that shipping to the US takes between 7 and 20 days for standard shipping, whereas Amazon typically delivers your order within a few days. And if you have a Prime subscription, you should get it even faster. In a nutshell, you are better off buying it from Amazon if you reside in the US.
The Anbernic RG477M has a 4.7-inch touch display with a 1280 x 960 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is housed in an aluminum alloy shell. It is powered by the Dimensity 8300 processor and packs a 5,300mAh battery that can provide up to 7 hours of use. The handheld has Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, and a MicroSD card slot for up to an additional 2TB of storage. It also has a 6-axis gyroscope and a USB-C port with display output support.
The handheld can play Android games, but can also emulate retro games up to PS2 and GameCube. It can also be used to stream games from your PC, remote play from your console, or cloud gaming.
