The R36XX is another vertical retro gaming handheld aimed at dethroning the likes of Anbernic's RG35XX series, the BatleXP G350 and the R36S. Contrary to its name, the R36XX features a 3.5-inch display rather than a 3.6-inch equivalent. Like its peers, the R36XX utilises an IPS panel with a 640 x 480-pixel native resolution that corresponds with a 4:3 aspect ratio suitable for many retro games.
Additionally, the RG36XX includes 1 GB of DDR3L RAM and a Rockchip RK3326 chipset with four ARM Cortex-A35 CPU cores and a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU clocked at 650 MHz. Moreover, the gaming handheld features a pair of joysticks like the BatleXP G350 and RG35XX Pro, as well as a pair of USB Type-C ports, a 3,000 mAh battery, built-in Wi-Fi and two microSD card slots.
Reportedly, the R36XX is compatible with custom firmware solutions, too. The R36XX can currently be picked up on AliExpress for just over $40 with a 64 GB microSD. At the time of writing, the R36XX can be picked up in over half a dozen colour options, most of which with translucent finishes. Alternatively, these same eight launch colours can be purchased on Amazon for around $55.
