Over a month ago, we reported on the Anbernic RG DS. A video of the handheld device surfaced around the same time, although there was some debate at the time about the authenticity of the video. At least one YouTuber even went so far as to make the unsubstantiated claim that it was pure AI slop. Now, it's official: the Anbernic RG DS really does exist, and although the video that surfaced may have been created using AI, it is authentic in that it has now been officially confirmed by Anbernic. The company has released a video that showcases the Anbernic RG DS once again.
Almost more exciting than the video itself are the video description and title. Anbernic states that the model will be launched for under $100, although no exact information on the price has yet been communicated. The same applies to the exact release date, although we expect a market launch in weeks rather than months.
The new part of the video released by Anbernic shows the Anbernic RG DS from different angles and in other colors, namely blue, white and a partially transparent case. The model comes with two displays, two joysticks, a directional pad and action buttons. Information about the built-in SoC or the two screens is not yet available. A Reddit user has attempted to estimate the dimensions from the images, which is relatively accurate using the USB-C port as a point of reference.
