Microsoft unveiled the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X handhelds at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8, but at the time, they were said to arrive ‘holiday 2025.’ Recently, it was reported that the handhelds will be available starting October and now, another report citing multiple sources claims the same launch window. The price, on the other hand, could be more than previously expected.
The information comes from Windows Central’s Jez Corden who states that in line with the previous October release date leaks, he can corroborate the same. The Windows Central report states that multiple sources have confirmed an October launch date and that the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds will likely arrive late October. Furthermore, it claims that sources suggest Microsoft has not finalized pricing at this point
The previous leak that came from Xbox leaker eXtas1s claimed that the ROG Xbox Ally will be priced at $499 while the ROG Xbox Ally X will cost $799. The new report cites PC gaming handheld expert Cary Golomb who believes that the ROG Xbox Ally could cost between $499 and $599 and the more powerful ROG Xbox Ally X could be priced between $899 and $999. This would put the ROG Xbox Ally X much higher than previously expected
The ROG Xbox Ally comes in white and is powered by the AMD Ryzen Z2A SoC, 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, while the ROG Xbox Ally X (black) is powered by the Ryzen Z2 Extreme SoC, 24 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage. These handhelds are designed to offer a full-screen Xbox experience and will be capable of running games from different game libraries including Steam, Epic, and others
It was also recently reported that even though Microsoft has partnered with Asus for these handhelds, it is still working on a first party Xbox handheld which may not be too far from release.
