Microsoft unveiled the Asus ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X at its recent Games Showcase. While the new Xbox handheld models should debut in the Holiday season, rumors have suggested a more specific timeframe. The latest leak comes courtesy of the Italian Asus Facebook page, which advertises an earlier summer arrival. With Hollow Knight: Silksong featured during Microsoft's event, some fans now hope it will launch around the same time.
The Asus text in question, which translates to "#ROGXboxAllyX is coming this summer," contradicts Microsoft's own Holiday launch window. Still, leakers like eXtas1s have since revealed an October release with pricing details. If the Taiwanese manufacturer is correct, at least the ROG Xbox Ally X may appear sooner.
Strangely, the new Xbox handheld and Hollow Knight: Silksong release dates have become intertwined. One of the first responses to the Asus Facebook ad was related to the game. During its June 8th event, Microsoft announced that the title would be available when Windows devices arrive. However, a Silksong developer then clarified that the game's release is not tied to any handheld or console. Matthew Griffin, also known as Leth, promised that gamers could play the title by Christmas.
Desperate Hollow Knight followers are now even more perplexed. Since word spread about the project in 2019, Silksong news has been scarce. Nintendo featured the game during its April Switch 2 Direct, but with a general 2025 release window. It would seem like a massive misstep from Microsoft to mistakenly promise Hollow Knight: Silksong as a day one title for its handhelds. If the Asus projection holds, the handheld and game could surface by the end of Summer or September 22nd.
Perhaps the best indication of a summer Hollow Knight: Silksong release date is a scheduled September event. The game will be playable on September 18th at an Australian Games World museum exhibition.
