In a post on X, developer Supergiant revealed the platforms on which version 1.0 of the highly anticipated Hades 2 will launch – and PS5 and Xbox users may be disappointed by the news.

Following a successful Early Access on PC, Hades 2 is also set to release on the Nintendo Switch (available here on Amazon) and the upcoming Switch 2 when version 1.0 launches. Developer Supergiant has also confirmed that the game is expected to arrive this year.

Hades 2 only launching on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 for consoles?

Interestingly, the team behind Hades 2 announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the game will be available exclusively on PC and the two Nintendo consoles – at least for the time being. It remains unclear when or if the game will arrive on other other platforms, such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Given the success of its predecessor, Hades 2 seems likely to launch on other consoles as well. However, Supergiant Games hasn’t mentioned anything about the game releasing on another platform. No-one knows for sure whether this is because they want to Hades 2 to release on the Switch first or perhaps they have struck an exclusivity deal with Nintendo. For now, fans of PS5 and Xbox will need to remain patient. Nevertheless, in all fairness, it's worth noting that the company was only answering a question about a Switch version to rule out the game being a Switch 2 exclusive.

What kind of game is Hades 2?

As the sequel to the highly successful Hades, the game combines storytelling with roguelite action and dungeon crawler elements. Early impressions have been overwhelmingly positive, with players praising Hades 2 for its impressive scale and high-quality gameplay even whilst it's still in Early Access on Steam. The game managed to surpass the crucial 100,000-player mark within the first 24 hours.

Hades for Switch is 65% off on Nintendo eShop

For those who haven't experienced the original award-winning Hades, the Switch version is currently available at a 65% discount on the Nintendo eShop, reduced to just $8.74 from its original price of $24.99.
