The TrimUI Brick has received another refresh. Called the TrimUI Brick Hammer, the refresh adds a CNC-machined metal housing that should improve heat dissipation while also providing a more premium feel.

The TrimUI Brick has been around for less than a year at this point. Nonetheless, TrimUI has already offered up a second refresh after introducing Purple, Red and White colour options in November (curr. $75.99 on Amazon). This time, the company has released CNC metal versions, which it is advertising as the TrimUI Brick Hammer.

Sold in Gunmetal Grey, Rose Gold and Fluorescent Green finishes, the TrimUI Brick Hammer contains the same underlying hardware as the regular TrimUI Brick. For reference, the Allwinner A133P and 1 GB of LPDDR3 RAM inside all TrimUI Brick variants are powerful enough to emulate up to systems like the Sega Dreamcast.

Another advantage of the TrimUI Brick is its 3.2-inch IPS display, which outputs at a comparatively high 1,024 x 768 native resolution. Theoretically, the CNC housing of the TrimUI Brick Hammer should provide more even heat dissipation than the original TrimUI though, which is prone to getting warm in certain areas. Arguably, the TrimUI Brick Hammer offers a more premium feel in hand than the mostly plastic original TrimUI Brick too.

Apparently, the switch from metal and plastic to only metal does not add any weight either, although we would recommend exercising caution about this until independent reviews arrive. The TrimUI Brick Hammer is available to pre-order now for $94.99 without a microSD card. With that being said, one can take 15% off any SKU by applying the code TRIMUI15OFF at checkout. Currently, TrimUI hopes to begin shipping pre-orders on June 30.
