The launch of the MagicX Zero 40 is around the corner after experiencing a ten-day delay. However, it seems that the Zero 40 will soon be joined by a smaller and horizontal alternative. For the time being, MagicX no longer lists the so-called One35 or One 35 on its website.
Nonetheless, it shared several details on Discord, including three render images that we have embedded below. As it stands, MagicX intends to sell fewer than 10,000 units, with 1,333 allocated to Phantom Purple, 1,666 to Starry Grey and 4,999 to Midnight Black currently. Apparently, shipment dates could vary between colours too, although MagicX is unlikely to share specifics before releasing the Zero 40 on June 27.
In the meantime, it expects to fully unveil the One 35 by July. As its name suggests, the device will have a 3.5-inch display that MagicX surrounds with a Nintendo ABXY layout, in-line shoulder buttons and a single joystick. Thus, the One 35 should be noticeably larger than the existing Mini Zero 28 (curr. $79.99 on Amazon). Render images also show a pair of d-pads which were visible in an engineering sample that MagicX showcased in February.
As far as we can tell, this is to facilitate TATE gameplay in either vertical orientation. Unfortunately, MagicX has not confirmed the chipset that underpins the One 35 at this stage. Potentially, the company will turn to the Allwinner A133P again; the fact that the device can emulate Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 games implies that MagicX has sought a more powerful alternative, though.
