The 8BitDo 64 Controller was first announced in October 2024 as a Bluetooth controller inspired by the Nintendo 64's controller. The controller, which is specifically made for the Analogue 3D, was supposed to be released on March 19, 2025. However, due to the Analogue 3D facing delays, the controller too faced a similar fate. Thankfully, the 8BitDo 64 Controller is now available to pre-order again on Amazon with a new release date.
The 8BitDo 64 Controller is available to pre-order in Black and White color options on Amazon for $39.99. The controller is also available to pre-order on Amazon UK for £34.99 in black and white. Both listings say the controller will be released on July 30, 2025. Analogue's website also says the Analogue 3D ships this July but the console is currently listed as out of stock.
Although the 8BitDo 64 Controller is designed for the Analogue 3D, the modern remake of the Nintendo N64 console, 8BitDo says the Bluetooth controller is also compatible with the Nintendo Switch (including N64 Online), Android, and Windows. It can be used in Bluetooth and Wired USB modes and has a switch underneath to swap between D-input and S-input modes.
The 8BitDo 64 Controller tries to be faithful to the original N64 controller with its concave rubber joystick cap and C-buttons and the positioning of the Start and A/B buttons. It also has signature 8BitDo buttons such as a turbo button and a home button. Other features of the controller are Hall Effect joystick, wear-resistant joystick ring, and vibration support (Analogue 3D and Switch). Details such as battery life, weight, and dimensions remain unknown.
