The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller was announced earlier this year as 8BitDo's top-of-the-line controller. When the controller was announced, it was stated to be compatible with Windows and Android devices only. 8BitDo has announced that the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller now has official support for Apple devices.
The announcement was made on X by the official 8BitDo account. According to the post, the Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller is now officially supported by Apple. This means the controller can now be used with Apple devices which includes devices running iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tVOS, and visionOS.
Although the post doesn't say which mode of connection works with Apple devices, our guess is that it is via Bluetooth. The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller connects to Windows devices via a wired USB connection or via the included 2.4GHz USB-C wireless adapter while it works with Android via Bluetooth.
The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Controller has an Xbox layout with TMR joysticks, Hall Effect triggers with mode switching, customizable back buttons, additional R4 and L4 shoulder buttons, and customizable RGB lights around the joysticks. The controller also has six-axis motion control, a macro button, and a turbo button. It also comes with a charging dock.
The controller is available in Black, Purple, White, Green, and a Wuchang: Fallen Feathers limited edition. It costs $59.99 on Amazon, but can be purchased for $45.99 directly from 8BitDo's eShop.
