The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 is less than six months old after debuting globally on February 25 for $59.99. Nonetheless, 8BitDo has already updated the controller in separate refreshes. To recap, the company offered up a Bluetooth version in April with Nintendo Switch compatibility. Then less than a fortnight ago, it added a striking green variant with an Xbox layout.
Now, it has updated the Ultimate 2 Bluetooth in partnership with Aknes. This time, 8BitDo has decided to start selling its high-end controller in yellow with accented ABXY buttons like the green version before it. As always, 8BitDo bundles colour-matching accessories, which extend to its charging dock and 2.4 GHz USB adapter.
Currently, the new yellow option is not available from 8BitDo directly. Instead, it can be picked up for $69.99 either from Aknes or on Amazon. With that being said, we would not be surprised if 8BitDo stocks this colour option too further down the line. For reference, this new variant just extends to the Ultimate 2 Bluetooth and not its Xbox layout counterpart. As a result, Aknes lists Windows, Switch and Switch 2 compatibility on its product listing. Please see Aknes' website for more details.
