Keychron has just announced the K10 V2, its updated full-size mechanical keyboard, with new switch options, better customisation software. As far as mechanical keyboards go, it also delivers a reasonable price, starting at under $100 and making it a solid option for budget-conscious gamers and keyboard enthusiasts looking for a num pad.

Keychron has been on a roll lately, updating many of its budget- and mid-range-oriented mechanical keyboards with QMK firmware, improved materials, and new Keychron Super Switches. That time has come for the K10, with the K10 QMK Version 2 launching to Keychron's online store with a number of improvements to the overall experience.

The biggest changes over the original K10 keyboard are the move to Keychron branded switches and new sound-damping foams, which offer a degree of customisability and provide a more satisfying typing feel. As the name suggests, the K10 QMK V2 runs on QMK firmware, meaning it is compatible with Keychron Launcher software, which we enjoyed in our recent Keychron K15 Max review

The new keyboard was also updated to Bluetooth 5.2, which should make it more efficient than its predecessor. According to Keychron, the K10 QMK V2 should last around 100 hours connected via Bluetooth 5.2 with RGB backlighting on low. There is also no 2.4 GHz mode to fall back on, with a USB type-C cable being the other connectivity option.

Like its predecessor, however, the K10 QMK V2 still features an aluminium plate and shine-through keycaps, although they are PBT this time around. It also maintains the dual-frame design, which allows buyers to opt for a fully plastic build or a plastic case with an aluminium frame. It also moves from an OEM keycap profile to Cherry.

The Keychron K10 QMK V2 is available in the following configurations and pricing:

  • White backlight, plastic frame, non-hot-swap: $84
  • RGB backlight, plastic frame, non-hot-swap: $94
  • RGB backlight, plastic frame, hot-swap: $104
  • RGB backlight, aluminium frame, non-hot-swap: $104
  • RGB backlight, aluminium frame, hot-swap: $114

Regardless of which variant you get, it will come with the choice of Keychron Super Red (linear), Brown (mild tactile), or Banana (early, sharp tactile bump). Though these bear the Keychron name, they seem to be Gateron-produced switches, since they share specifications.
