Serene Industries' first product is an aluminum keyboard with aluminum keycaps that are backlit. The 65% keyboard also sports some unusual features such as screw mounts for attaching accessories.

Serene Industries has released an aluminum keyboard that costs a whopping $1,500, but there's more to it than just the price. Named Icebreaker, the wedge-shaped keyboard is made from a single piece of CNC'd aluminum block. It also has aluminum keycaps, which might not seem special until you learn that the keyboard has a customizable RGB backlight.

To allow light pass through the metal keycaps of the 65% keyboard, Serene Industries said they had to make hundreds of micro-perforations — 800 to be exact. These tiny holes allow users to see the light shining through the indented keys when using the Icebreaker keyboard in the dark.

The Icebreaker has a rotary encoder on the left side which can be used to control volume but can also be customized to work as a scroll-wheel or a scrubber for those who edit videos. There's a large palm rest below the keys, and the manufacturer adds that there is a silicone dampener under the bottom lid that supports the PCB and also doubles as a non-slip feet for the keyboard.

Another interesting addition is the set of 1/4-20'' mounting points in front and underneath the keyboard. Serene says the mounts which are widely used will allow owners to attach various things including tripod mounts, monitor arms, or even the handle of an axe in case you are crazy enough to want to use the keyboard to break ice!

The Icebreaker has a Bluetooth option with a 4,000mAh battery which Serene Industries claim will provide up to 3 months of use. It also claims that the keyboard doesn't need software for keymap customization as it uses browser-based configuration.

Serene Industries is charging $1,500 for the keyboard (Clear color) and an extra $100 if you want the Bluetooth version or a wired version with hall effect switches. If you choose the black variant, that adds an extra $500 to the total price. It is also selling a set of keycaps for $415.

The keyboard is currently on pre-order but there's no shipping date. The official website says production begins immediately pre-order closes, and buyers will be able to request for a full refund provided the order hasn't shipped yet.
