Dolby Atmos FlexConnect was announced back in 2023. The standard is supposed to simplify surround setups by allowing the internal speakers of a smart TV to be used as a center channel, but it also allows any number of compatible speakers to be placed freely in the same room. The sound is then automatically calibrated for the specific space.
LG is now introducing the first soundbar that supports Dolby Atmos FlexConnect. The so-called LG Sound Suite consists of the H7 soundbar, the M5 and M7 speakers and the W7 subwoofer. Customers can decide which and how many speakers are combined with the soundbar. According to LG, these components can create a 13.1.7-channel surround setup. The soundbar acts as the FlexConnect hub, although selected LG Smart TVs from the 2026 model year, as well as some 2025 models with updated software, are also expected to support FlexConnect.
With a FlexConnect smart TV, the aforementioned wireless speakers can also be used without a soundbar. One distinctive feature of the Sound Suite is that it uses an UWB chip to determine the user’s position in order to adjust the sound accordingly. It’s powered by the Alpha 11 AI Gen 3 processor, and the LG H7 soundbar can upmix stereo content to Dolby Atmos. LG has not yet confirmed further details on the remaining specifications, pricing or availability of the Sound Suite, but these are expected to be revealed at CES 2026 in January.
