JVC Kenwood has released the TH-WD05 3.1 Dolby Atmos soundbar with wood-cone speakers in Japan.
The compact soundbar incorporates three 20-watt drivers and one 40-watt woofer, and connects to TVs using an optical, RCA, or HDMI cable. The center speaker uses a flat driver to focus dialogue directly at listeners, and the soundbar has a Clear Voice mode that emphasizes dialogue for better intelligibility, according to JVC. The company used internally developed wood-cone speakers for their ability to recreate rich bass and expressive highs.
A night mode adjusts the sound to be easier to hear at lower volumes, while a wireless transmitter can broadcast TV sound to any Bluetooth headphones when silence in the room is required. Owners can also use the soundbar as a Bluetooth speaker with their phones and play high-resolution music, including WAV and FLAC files, from a USB flash drive.
The TH-WD05 measures 697 x 77.5mm x 110 mm (27.4 x 3.1 x 4.3 in.) and weighs 3.5 kg (7.7 lbs.), allowing the soundbar to fit better on smaller TV stands. The JVC Kenwood soundbar has an MSRP of 59,840 yen (~$390) and is available for purchase from the company store in natural wood or brown wood colorways.
