IKEA has unveiled three new Solskydd smart speakers. These products have been designed in collaboration with Tekla Evelina Severin, also known as Teklan. The company says that it has aimed to make functional products that users do not feel the need to hide.
The Solskydd is a round speaker, available in three sizes: small (8-inch), medium (11-inch) and large (18-inch). Each version supports Bluetooth, allowing you to play music or a podcast from a connected phone, tablet or laptop. This also enables you to link multiple speakers for a more immersive audio experience. Plus, this model supports Spotify Tap, so users can quickly resume the music or generate a new playlist based on their listening history.
The small Solskydd has one 2.5-inch driver for up to 80.5 dB volume. It has an orange, checkerboard pattern, and can be wall-mounted or sat on a flat surface using its accompanying stand. This is the only portable model in the range, with up to 25 hours of battery life. The medium Solskydd has a 1-inch tweeter and a 4-inch woofer, for a maximum volume of 83.6 dB. This wired model features a green, brown and beige diagonal stripe, and can also be hung or freestanding.
The larger Solskydd has a 1-inch tweeter and two 3-inch woofers, for up to 93.6 dB volume. This wired model must be wall-mounted, and has a textured orange fabric cover. IKEA also notes that it could be paired with a screen. Each Solskydd speaker features buttons on the plastic outer casing, and the two larger sizes offer three EQ modes. The company is also launching plain white versions of the Solskydd speakers for those looking for a more minimalist option.
According to IKEA, the Solskydd smart speakers will launch in December 2025, though they are not expected to reach the US until January 2026. Here, the small IKEA Solskydd smart speaker will retail for $79.99, with the medium and larger versions priced at $99.99 and $139.99, respectively.
