Epishine has announced a new indoor solar powered remote for Google TV. Developed with official Google supplier Ohsung Electronics, this upcoming accessory is said to never run out of battery. As well as the slim solar cell, it features dedicated buttons for Google Assistant, YouTube and Netflix.

A new solar powered Google TV remote control has been revealed. The G32 remote control has been developed by Ohsung Electronics, one of Google’s official remote control suppliers, and Epishine, a solar cell technology company.

The current Google TV remote controls, which accompany Google TV devices, are powered by disposable batteries. Epishine hopes that, by using solar cells powered by ambient indoor light instead, there is reduced cost for the consumer, as well as reduced waste. Plus, this more sustainable solution should mean that the remote never runs out of power.

The current design of the Epishine G32 Google TV remote control features a slim, bifacial solar cell on the front, in the lower third. Above this are a range of buttons, including dedicated controls to activate Google Assistant or open the YouTube or Netflix apps.

It is unclear when the Epishine G32 Google TV remote control will start to roll out. It is expected to be released alongside other future Google TV hardware. Whether or when this product could be sold separately, and at what price, remains to be seen.
