The LG G5 OLED currently retails for $1,562 on Amazon and was already a significant upgrade over the G4 from 2024 thanks to its much brighter 165Hz OLED panel. With the upcoming LG OLED G6, there seems to be another big upgrade in store for next year, as a German publication has already uncovered initial images and details of the next-generation flagship TV.
Unsurprisingly, the G series sticks with the gallery design, which allows the smart TV to be mounted flush against a wall. The LG G6 OLED will be offered with screen sizes of 48, 55, 65, 77, 83 and 97 inches. LG is equipping these televisions with a new tandem OLED panel that’ll be marketed as a "Hyper Radiant" OLED panel with "Brightness Booster Ultra". This technology apparently makes the set 3.9 times brighter than the more affordable LG B6 OLED, although the leaked marketing material does not provide exact numbers or a direct comparison to the predecessor.
An improved coating supposedly reduces reflections and produce deeper blacks in bright ambient light, while the α11 AI processor is expected to deliver 5.6 times higher AI performance. As expected, the 165Hz gaming mode, support for Dolby Vision HDR, Apple AirPlay 2, Google Cast, HDMI Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), as well as AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync are also on board.
The LG OLED W6 will likely have an almost identical design to the G6, but with one major difference, namely the HDMI and USB ports will be located on the Zero Connect Box instead of directly on the TV. This box connects wirelessly to the television and makes it easier to hide cables to devices such as a PlayStation 5. The LG OLED TV only needs a small power cable. The W6 will apparently hit the market in 77 and 83-inch size variants.
