Despite the plethora of smart TVs powered by Android TV or Google TV, none have Google Photos, save for the screensaver integration. That might change soon, but before then, Samsung has announced that its Tizen-powered smart TVs will be getting Google Photos in 2026.
According to an official statement from the electronics giant, it is working on bringing Google Photos to Samsung TVs, so that users can relive their favorite memories on an immersive and larger screen. The integration of Google Photos with Samsung TVs will allow users to seamlessly bring photos captured on their phones to their TVs. These photos will be curated by people, places, and moments.
The idea is for photos to be a deep integration with Samsung TVs, such as photos appearing through Daily+ and Daily Board. It has also been reported that setting up the feature will only require users signing in with their Google Account. After doing so, photos will instantly appear on the TV.
Samsung says that the arrival of Google Photos will be in three phases:
- Memories — this will launch in March 2026, and will be exclusive to Samsung TVs for a period of six months. This means Google Photos will eventually be available on other TV brands. Memories will show curated stories based on people, location, and meaningful moments.
- Create with AI — this will arrive later in 2026 and will bring themed templates created using Nano Banana. It will also have a Remix feature that allows users to change the art style of an image, or convert a still photo into a short video.
- Personalized Results — this will also arrive in the second half of 2026 and will allow users to view photos as a slideshow in relation to a search term for a location, activity, or place such as ocean, hiking, Paris e.t.c.
Samsung says the feature will be available first on TVs launched in 2026 while older models will receive the feature “following the OS update schedule”. It goes without saying that users will also require a Google account and photos and videos that have been backed up.
