LG has now released the UltraGear 27GX790B-B in North America. The 27-inch 1440p monitor was earlier launched in China, featuring the 4th Gen Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel from LG Display. Specifically, this model has the 540 Hz variant with a 720 Hz dual mode at 720p, similar to the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W.
720 Hz Tandem OLED gaming for $999.99
The UltraGear 27GX790B-B has a lot going for it, but its biggest highlight is the rapid refresh rate. It runs at 540 Hz at its native 2560 x 1440p resolution, which already puts it ahead of QD-OLED competitors. It can also switch to 720 Hz at 720p, which should appeal to esports players who want every bit of competitive advantage. The monitor supports both G-Sync and FreeSync Premium Pro for tear-free gaming and is rated for a 0.02 ms response time. LG also includes ClearMR 21000 certification for improved motion clarity.
The Tandem OLED panel also brings other distinct upgrades over 3rd Gen WOLED models. The 27GX790B-B can reach 1,500 nits in HDR and boasts an even wider color gamut (DCI-P3 99.5% vs 99%). Even in SDR, it is brighter than most OLED monitors at 335 nits, which helps it hold up better in well-lit rooms. That said, the monitor also comes with upgraded DisplayPort 2.1 connectivity along with USB-C and a fully adjustable stand.
The LG UltraGear 27GX790B-B is now available in the US for $999.99 through Amazon. In Canada, it’s up for preorder at CA$1,299.99, with shipping slated for January 15, 2026.
