LG has introduced the 27GX790B in China, a 27-inch 1440p monitor with a 540 Hz refresh rate that can be boosted to 720 Hz. Built around LG's 4th Gen WOLED panel with a 4-stack RGB structure, it's brighter, more vibrant, and faster than previous WOLED monitors.

LG is rolling out another OLED gaming monitor based on its 4th-gen Primary RGB Tandem WOLED panel. The panel first appeared in 280 Hz models like the UltraGear 27GX700A-B and Gigabyte MO27Q28G, but LG is now using the upgraded 540 Hz version that can push all the way to 720 Hz. The new UltraGear 27GX790B-B has been announced in China and will compete directly with the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W when it arrives in the US.

LG UltraGear 27GX790B-B key features

As mentioned, the UltraGear 27GX790B-B features a native 2560 x 1440 resolution with a 540 Hz refresh rate. Dropping the resolution to 720p pushes that to 720 Hz, which should appeal to esports players who want every bit of competitive advantage. Even at its native settings, it is still faster than recent QD-OLED options like Samsung Odyssey OLED G60SF (curr: $749.99 at Amazon), which tops out at 500 Hz. The monitor also offers a 0.02 ms response time and carries ClearMR 21000 certification, so motion clarity should be excellent, ensuring fast-moving objects remain clear and sharp.

The UltraGear 27GX790B-B is also brighter, reaching up to 335 nits in SDR and 1,500 nits in HDR at a 1.5% window. It is certified under the DisplayHDR True Black 500 tier and covers 99.5% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, which is a small but welcome bump over the 99% coverage of 3rd Gen WOLED panels. According to TFT Central, the new four-stack panel structure also improves text clarity, so this monitor should be a strong option for both gaming and productivity.

In terms of connectivity, the UltraGear 27GX790B-B packs HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1, which means it can hit its maximum refresh rate without relying on DSC. LG also included a USB-C port, two USB-A ports, and a headphone jack. The monitor comes with a fully adjustable stand and a clean design with RGB lighting on the back.
