Gamers who care about ridiculous refresh rates more than anything will be pleased to note that the 520 Hz ASRock PG27FFX1B gaming monitor is now available for a record-low price. Reviews indicate that the panel performs pretty well, with its only weakness being its resolution.

Fast-paced gamers who are obsessed with refresh rates will most likely have heard of the ASRock Phantom Gaming PG27FFX1B monitor with an incredible 520 Hz refresh rate. Moreover, the speedy gaming monitor is now also available for an all-time low price of $237.99 on Newegg, courtesy of an ongoing sale on the platform.

520 Hz, 1080p monitor: Designed with competitive gaming in mind

Of course, the 27-inch ASRock PG27FFX1B gaming monitor is not the sharpest kid on the block - with a resolution of just 1920 x 1080, the monitor only manages a pixel density of about 81.6 pixels per inch. While that might be passable for gaming, any kind of workflow that requires a decent amount of text clarity and resolution will be a no-go on the PG27FFX1B.

TFT Central's review of the ASRock PG27FF2XA with the exact same panel reveals a promising picture for gaming. The 520 Hz refresh rate is just as incredible as it sounds, allowing for a shockingly smooth gaming experience. The review further indicates that the gaming monitor boasts a peak brightness of 480 nits - 80 nits higher than the advertised 400 nits, and a contrast ratio of 1362:1, which is also higher than to the advertised value. Color reproduction is pretty decent, with TFT Central measuring 92.8% coverage of the DCI-P3 wide gamut.

The ports on offer appear to be a pretty healthy list, including dual HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, dual USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-B, as well as a 3.5 mm audio out port. Tilt and height adjustments are missing, with swivel being the only adjustable option. That said, the PG27FFX1B gaming monitor is VESA mountable, which should help deal with the otherwise lackluster ergonomic adjustment options.

At its current all-time low price, the 520 Hz ASRock Phantom Gaming monitor is an excellent buy for competitive gamers, considering that the disappointing pixel density can be looked past. For those with modest refresh rate demands, the 1440p 240 Hz LG UltraGear LG 27GR83Q-B monitor will likely be a better fit, currently available for $260 on Amazon.
