Epic Games Store fans decipher cryptic Mystery Game giveaway clue before official announcement

The Epic Games Store is currently giving away two games on PC and macOS. Available until Thursday, the storefront is providing one of these titles for Android and iOS gamers too. With the holiday season now approaching, Epic Games has returned to its Mystery Game promotion tactic.

Yesterday, leaker u/MeguminShiro indicated that this Mystery Game could be Lords of the Fallen (curr. $29.97 on Amazon), an action RPG that Deck13 and CI Games released in 2023 as a successor to the 2014 game of the same name. Afterwards, Epic Games Store shared a cryptic teaser on X, which we have embedded below.

From this, many Redditors and X users have inferred that Epic's first Mystery Game could be Saros. From the same developers as Returnal and to be published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Saros is currently a PS5 exclusive. However, Returnal indicates that Saros will receive a PC port too.

With God of War and Lords of the Fallen 2 being ruled out, Divinity Original Sin 3 is an alternative candidate at this stage. Epic will announce its Mystery Game during The Game Awards on December 11 at 13:00 UTC. In other words, its first holiday season giveaway could be a new release.
