Everything points to the current-gen AMD Radeon RX 9000 GPUs becoming more expensive in the coming months. According to Moore's Law Is Dead, gamers can expect RDNA 4 GPUs like the RX 9070 to go back to their early 2025 prices when there was practically no RDNA 4 supply at the official MSRPs.

Ever since memory pricing started to go parabolic, it was expected that desktop gaming GPUs would be hit pretty hard. We have heard reports that AMD and Nvidia can discontinue their budget/mid-range desktop cards, as the category is fundamentally constrained by cost. Recently, reports started circulating online that AMD is going to charge $10 more for every 8 GB of GDDR VRAM

This purported RDNA 4 price increase will result in the following revised MSRPs for the current RDNA 4 lineup:

  • $309 for the RX 9060 XT 8 GB (+$10)
  • $360 for the RX 9060 XT 16 GB (+$20)
  • $569 for the RX 9070 non-XT 16 GB (+$20)
  • $619 for the RX 9070 XT 16 GB (+$20)

Compared to the current prices for DDR5 kits, this RDNA 4 price increase is rather limited and shouldn’t affect consumers that much. However, Moore’s Law Is Dead claims that the actual increase in price of the RDNA 4 RX 9000 GPUs, like the RX 9070 XT, could be much more.

Per the leaker, retailers have already updated their back-end prices, and the situation doesn’t look good. In essence, it looks like the RDNA 4 cards will return to prices seen earlier in 2025 when the stock was limited, and the RX 9070 and the RX 9070 XT were going for much more than their respective MSRPs.

After the memory inflation-induced price increase, MLID expects the RDNA 4 cards to retail:

  • Close to or above $350 for the RX 9060 XT 8 GB
  • Above $400 for the RX 9060 XT 16 GB
  • Above $650 for the RX 9070
  • Around $700 to $800 for the RX 9070 XT

Compared to these prices, the current MSRPs of the above-mentioned RDNA 4 GPUs are much lower. So, now seems like a pretty good time to buy an AMD Radeon card if you were on the fence about getting one.

MLID mentions nothing about any price increase for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 GPUs. While Nvidia will pass the burden of rising GDDR memory cost to consumers, we don’t know how much more Team Green will charge for GPUs like the RTX 5070.
