A new Geekbench listing has confirmed key specs of AMD's upcoming Ryzen 7 9850X3D. As anticipated, it comes with eight Zen 5 CPU cores and sixteen threads. However, its boost clock appears to vary across the two listings.
One lists it at 5.6 GHz, while the other states it is 5.4 GHz. Then again, the chip was tested on different motherboards, and that may have influenced the results. In its first run alongside the Colorful B850M, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D scores 3,439 and 17,530 points and 3,260/16,149 in the second (Maxsun B850ITX motherboard).
Performance-wise, it still lags behind the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, but that is to be expected because the board is not officially out yet. Additionally, both Ryzen 7 9850X3D samples were tested with DDR5-4800 RAM. The B850 and AM5 platforms can support substantially faster memory.
While not stated explicitly, its frequent appearances hint at a CES 2026 reveal for the Ryzen 7 9850X3D. It will likely be joined by the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, AMD's first-ever consumer-grade gaming CPU with a 3D V-cache tile on both of its CCDs.
