AMD is reportedly going to release new Zen 5 CPUs in the first half of 2026. Moore's Law Is Dead claims that the Ryzen 7 9850X3D and the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 both use new CCDs with enhanced boost clock behavior.

AMD recently quietly confirmed the existence of the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, a new Zen5X3D CPU that is expected to be an improvement over the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. We have also previously reported on the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, which could be AMD’s first CPU with two 3D V-Cache dies on each 8-core CCD. Moore’s Law Is Dead has now revealed some tantalizing details regarding these two upcoming Ryzen CPUs.

Per the leaker, both the Ryzen 7 9850X3D and the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 utilize new Zen 5 steppings with improved “boosting characteristics”. In other words, the chips aren’t just improved versions of existing CPUs, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, but employ new CCDs that can potentially have higher boost clocks than the current Zen 5X3D CPUs.

The leaker further explains that AMD is trying to engineer the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 to beat the Ryzen 9 9950X in gaming and, at least, match the Ryzen 9 9950X in multi-core performance. Traditionally, the X3D CPUs perform worse in multi-core scenarios than their non-X3D counterparts due to thermal constraints that reduce the peak boost clocks. However, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 could have a better all-core boost clock than the Ryzen 9 9950X, allowing the CPU to match or beat the non-X3D chip in multi-threaded workloads. MLID expects the peak boost frequency of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 to be around 5.6 GHz, with optional overclocking allowing much higher clocks.

Finally, since the Ryzen 9 9850X3D and the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 employ new CCDs, MLID suggests AMD could use the lower-binned CCDs in a new 6-core Zen 5 CPU. This new Ryzen 5 9650X should’ve faster clocks than the Ryzen 5 9600X (Available on Amazon).

While we don't know the exact release dates of these new Ryzen CPUs, MLID claims that the CPUs will be here in the first half of 2026. So, a CES 2026 debut is quite likely.
