AMD has quietly launched a new version of the Radeon RX 9060 XT to round off its slew of Radeon RX 9000 series releases from earlier this year. To recap, the company already offers the RX 9060 XT in 8 GB and 16 GB VRAM variants (curr. $379 on Amazon).
Now, AMD has added a third variant that sits between its original 8 GB and 16 GB options. Specifically, the company has launched the Radeon RX 9060 XT LP, with LP standing for Low Power. On the face of it, hardly any differences between the new card and the existing 16 GB variant exist. For instance, the Radeon RX 9060 XT LP retains 16 GB of GDDR6 VRAM operating at 20 Gbps on a 128-bit bus.
Therefore, the new card matches the original 16 GB variant with a 320 GB/s memory bandwidth. Likewise, it maintains 2,048 cores and 32 Compute Units, which is consistent with it featuring a Navi 44 XT GPU. However, AMD distinguishes the two cards by their Typical Board Powers (TBP).
Also known as TDP or TGP, AMD rates the existing 16 GB for 160 W while recommending a 450 W power supply. While that recommendation remains unchanged, TBP has dropped by 20 W to 140 W, which coincides with a Boost Clock drop from around 3,130 MHz to 3,050 MHz. Performance differences between the two cards are unknown at this point. Currently, the Radeon RX 9060 XT LP is expected to be a China-only offering.
