Several media outlets reported last week that Asus was pausing the shipment of the ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090. A Swedish retailer reportedly informed a customer that Asus wanted to address quality control issues with the card. The Taiwanese company has now provided more information about the situation.
Asus Germany admitted there was a delay. However, the company claimed it paused shipments to improve the product and customer experience, with shipments set to resume shortly.
To quote Asus’ public relations executive, Christian Wefers,
“There is no product recall for the ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090. We proactively adjusted the original timeline to allow additional time for product improvements and to ensure an optimal customer experience. The products will arrive at our partners within the next few days. Availability may vary by region.”
Asus also stated that customers who received the GPU before the official launch may continue using their units.
The ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090 is one of the most expensive variants of the card, retailing for about $4,000. It is equipped with four cooling fans and can draw up to 800 watts when paired with Asus’ Advanced BTF motherboard and a 12V-2x6 power supply. Asus is producing only 1,000 units globally, making it essentially a collector’s GPU.
