Skyrocketing RAM prices have been the talk of the town in the past few weeks. Even a measly 32 GB kit, such as this one from G.Skill, has tripled in price to over $300 over a matter of weeks. Scaling those numbers up, a 192 GB kit should be worth a small fortune. However, one Facebook user determined the veritable goldmine was equivalent to an RTX 5070 Ti graphics card.
The Corsair Vengeance kit mentioned above is listed for a whopping $2,201.99 on Corsair's official website. The user claims he bought it for around $375. Granted that the kit is brand new, but at this point, the distinction between new and used memory is non-existent. Essentially, the user got a ~$800 GPU for $2,200 worth of memory, making it a spectacularly bad deal.
The comments on the post express the same opinion, with many stating the RAM was worth at least an RTX 5080 or even an RTX 5090. The other alternative was an unspecified Asus 27-inch QD-OLED 240Hz monitor (likely the ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM), which is about $1,190 brand new. The GPU and monitor together might have been a more equitable deal, but the user has no qualms, simply stating, "Just have no use for them" and that he is happy with his decision.
