Xiaomi released the Xiaomi 15S Pro earlier this year as a mid-year refresh of the Xiaomi 15 Pro, albeit with its in-house XRing O1 instead of Qualcomm silicon. According to a new leak, the company has a direct successor in the works as well.
As shared by leaker Smart Pikachu, Xiaomi is currently working on a next-gen S-series to succeed the Xiaomi 15S Pro. Presumably, this will be branded as the Xiaomi 17S series, following in the footsteps of the Xiaomi 17 lineup.
The Xiaomi 15S Pro was a rather unspectacular device outside of its XRing O1 chipset, and it remains to be confirmed if its successor arrives in 2026 with XRing O2 onboard. That said, the source claims the XRing O2's baseband is still in development, indicating that the potential Xiaomi 17S series will, in fact, be powered by a second-gen XRing chipset.
Like with the Xiaomi 15S Pro, it's unlikely that the Xiaomi 17S series will ever make its way out of China, with Xiaomi seemingly intent on keeping its in-house chipsets exclusive to the Chinese market. As a result, the upcoming Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to be Xiaomi's undisputed flagship for this generation globally.
