The Asus ROG NUC 2025 now has a new rival. Called the Thunderobot Mix G2, the new mini-PC surpasses Asus' gaming mini-PC with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU, as well as an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and up to 64 GB of RAM.

Thunderobot has launched an alternative to the ROG NUC (2025), which Asus offers with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU (curr. $3,199 on Amazon). Alternatively, the ROG NUC (2025) can be configured with the Core Ultra 7 255HX and the GeForce RTX 5060 or GeForce RTX 5070 in many markets. Also, Asus sells an AMD-powered alternative as the ROG GR70.

While Thunderobot has elected against using AMD processors, the Mix G2 surpasses the ROG NUC (2025) and ROG GR70 when it comes to GPU performance. Specifically, the Mix G2 can be configured with up to a GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU for a circa 17% in-game performance boost over the most powerful ROG NUC (2025). The Mix G2 is a fair bit taller and deeper than the ROG NUC (2025) though at 332 x 212 x 45 mm versus 282 x 188 x 57 mm.

Moreover, the Thunderobot Mix G2 combines two fans and a large heatsink to provide up to 175 W to its GPU alone and 295 W in total. As the image below shows, the 3.2-litre mini-PC also features plenty of front and rear-facing I/O, including a single Thunderbolt 5 port. On top of that, Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity are on board, as is a Gigabit LAN connection.

The Thunderobot Mix G2 will start at CNY 14,999 (~$2,108) on November 20 in China with a Core Ultra 7 255HX processor, a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU, 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Meanwhile, jumping to the Core Ultra 9 275HX and GeForce RTX 5080 increases the mini-PC's price to CNY 18,999 (~$2,670), though it retains the same memory configuration. Finally, the GeForce RTX 5090 variant will retail for CNY 24,999 (~$3,513), in part thanks to the inclusion of 64 GB of RAM too. There is no word on international availability yet, though.
