The Nvidia DGX Spark debuted almost a month ago packing a 20-core ARM-based CPU, a Blackwell architecture GPU and 128 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, among other features. While the Founders Edition (curr. $4,539 on Amazon) has been available since mid-October, partners like MSI did not immediately start offering their own versions.
Now, ETA Prime has got his hands on MSI's version, which the company offers as the EdgeXpert AI for $2,999. Despite being intended for AI models, the YouTuber has also provided an early glimpse into the gaming performance of Nvidia's DGX Spark platform. Theoretically, all DGX Spark units contain the same compute power as the GeForce RTX 5070 but with 128 GB of system memory at its disposal.
As the video below shows, the MSI EdgeXpert AI can easily emulate PlayStation 3 (PS3) games like Skate 3 using RPCS3. Averaging around 60 FPS at 1080p, it seems that the DGX Spark platform has enough headroom to emulate PS3 games at higher resolutions. The same goes for Xbox titles running Xemu, with ETA Prime achieving Forza Motorsport at the same resolution. Ultimately, Nvidia did not design the DGX Spark with gaming in mind. Nonetheless, the AI workstation is still capable of it even at this early stage after its release.
