Kingston Fury has unveiled its fastest and largest PCIe 5.0 SSD yet, the Renegade G5 8 TB, boasting blistering speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s reads and 14,000 MB/s writes. Designed for power users and gamers, the drive is described as combining massive capacity with efficiency thanks to Silicon Motion’s SM2508G controller and 218-layer BiSC8 TLC NAND chips.
Kingston Fury has added a new 8 TB SSD with read speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and write speeds of 14,000 MB/s to its Renegade G5 PCIe 5.0 line of storage devices. The Renegade G5 8 TB compares favourably with other high-capacity SSDs, such as Corsair’s MP700 Pro XT and TeamGroup’s T-Force Z54E, both of which are limited to 4 TB. The new model also beats out the Samsung 9100 PRO with a top write speed of 13,400 MB/s.
Naturally, it's four PCI-Express 5 lanes that allow the brand to deliver data transfer rates this extreme.
Engineered for enthusiasts and creators
Kingston is targeting gamers, content creators, and professionals who deal with large 4K and 8K files with the new SSD. The Renegade G5 8 TB can accommodate huge game libraries and project files while maintaining high speeds.
The new storage drive uses the Silicon Motion SM2508G controller and a 218-layer BiSC8 3D TLC NAND, with firmware architecture that Kingston claims has been optimized for intensive workloads. The company used to offer the G5 in 1 TB, 2 TB, and 4 TB models, but has now doubled the highest capacity without sacrificing speed.
Designed for durability
Kingston says the new Renegade comes with a 5-year warranty. While buyers will have to wait for official pricing information, the new SSD is being positioned as a premium offering to users with demanding storage requirements.
