Adata has announced the SR800 Magnetic Power Bank SSD. The accessory attaches to MagSafe or Qi2.2-compatible smartphones and combines a 5,000 mAh power bank with up to 2 TB of SSD storage. It supports 15 W wireless charging and up to 2,000 MB/s transfers.

Adata has introduced what could be one of the most versatile accessories for mobile creators. The new SR800 Magnetic Power Bank SSD combines the functions of a wireless power bank, like the Anker Zolo, and a magnetic SSD, such as the Corsair EX400U that we reviewed, into one compact and travel-friendly device that weighs under 200 grams.

The Adata SR800 includes a magnetic ring, allowing it to be mounted to recent iPhones and Qi2-compatible phones such as the Google Pixel 10 series. It has a 5,000 mAh battery capacity and supports up to 15 W wireless charging. An additional USB-C port boosts charging speeds to 20 W, but it still doesn’t hold a candle to newer Qi2.2 power banks, which can reach up to 25 W wirelessly.

That said, the SR800 features a clever modular design that allows the SSD to slide into the power bank and stay securely in place. A USB-C port then allows users to connect to a smartphone to back up data or capture high-resolution content such as 4K or ProRes without running into storage limits. The SSD can also be detached and used as a standard external drive for laptops.

Other highlights include a built-in kickstand for convenient hands-free use. The power bank measures 4.2 x 2.86 x 0.88 inches, while the detachable SSD comes in at 2.55 x 1.37 x 0.43 inches. Adata also includes a one-year warranty for the power bank and a five-year warranty for the SSD.

Adata has yet to reveal details on pricing or availability.
