We have already reported on gaming handhelds that can also be used as a power bank, and potential alternatives are available for purchase on Amazon. The PB-810.ips offered by Pearl is another device in this specific product category.
The selection of games is limited, as the manufacturer states that it includes 150 8-bit titles and 50 16-bit games. This is likely due to legal reasons, and cheap retro gaming handhelds imported from China often come with tens of thousands of titles, though these are often questionable in terms of copyright. That said, the 200 games on Pearl’s power bank apparently cover a range of genres.
Lots of capacity and wireless charging
The power bank measures about 4.3 x 2.9 x 0.7 inches, weighs 7 oz and features a 2.8-inch IPS display. It lacks joysticks but has a D-pad, four action buttons and additional buttons for menu access or similar. The gadget also has a capacity of 10,000mAh, which should be enough for roughly 24 hours of gameplay. The power bank can further output up to 20W via USB-C, which is sufficient to charge a smartphone quickly but not bigger devices such as a laptop or tablet. It also supports Qi wireless charging with up to 15W.
Power bank is MagSafe-compatible
The power bank supports MagSafe and can be magnetically attached to iPhones, while the current state of charge is indicated by four LEDs. The PB-810.ips can also function as a charging pad and pass through power to another device while charging itself. Lastly, a USB-C cable is included in the box and doubles as a wrist strap. The official list price is €40 plus shipping.
