The Retroid Pocket 6 has a whirlwind of a few days. Announced on Monday, the gaming handheld then went on sale a day later alongside the cheaper Pocket G2. Shortly afterwards, the company then conceded and took down Pocket 6 pre-orders pending a community-driven redesign.
Now, Retroid has presented the results of this redesign ahead of the Pocket 6's re-release. While the company has not confirmed new pre-order dates yet, it suggests that the Pocket 6 will return soon. In the meantime, it has confirmed that the device will eventually be available in configurations, one with its left joystick on top and another in its original position.
Additionally, Retroid has moved the handheld's M1 and M2 buttons to its rear panel, which should now be accessible via one's forefingers. Likewise, Retroid has moved the Pocket 6's speakers and Android buttons to the side, for better or worse. Seemingly, the redesigned Pocket 6 retains the same underlying hardware as the original model. Thus, the device should be about as powerful as the Ayn Odin 2 or Odin2 Portal (curr. $359 on Amazon), thanks to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Please see our original launch article for more hardware details.
