Retroid has now opened pre-orders for the Pocket G2, less than twenty-four hours after announcing the device. For context, the same is true of the Pocket 6 that Retroid has now released too. Please see our Pocket 6 release article for more details about Retroid's other new gaming handheld.
As we established yesterday, the Pocket G2 relies upon Android 15 rather than the Android 14 build Retroid uses in the Pocket Classic or the Android 13 software it ships in the Pocket Flip 2 (curr. $269 on Amazon). Additionally, the Pocket G2 is the first device to feature the Snapdragon G2 Gen 2, seven months after Qualcomm announced the chipset during the Game Developers Conference 2025 (GDC 2025). For reference, the Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 brings the following hardware to the Pocket G2:
- CPU: 1x Kryo Gold Plus prime core (2.8 GHz), 4x Kryo Gold performance cores (2.57 GHz), 3x Kryo Silver efficiency cores (1.9 GHz)
- GPU: Adreno A22 GPU
- Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.4 & Wi-Fi 6
Moreover, Retroid includes 8 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, 128 GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage and a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 27 W wired charging. On top of that, the Pocket G2 features a 5.5-inch AMOLED display running at 1080p and 60 Hz, as well as an active cooling solution to prevent its 199.2 x 78.5 x 15.6 mm and 280 g housing from overheating.
The Pocket G2 is available to pre-order from today for early bird pricing set at $199. Please note that Retroid intends to eventually charge $219 for the device in its 16-bit, Black, GameCube, Turquoise and Yellow colour options. Also, although most Pocket G2 pre-orders should start shipping on October 29, Retroid will not be ready to dispatch Turquoise or Yellow pre-orders until November 5. Please see Retroid's website for more details.
