After years of releases, Anbernic has finally created a dual-screen solution with the RG DS. Over the weekend, information emerged regarding the handheld's size relative to the Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL. In short, the Anbernic RG DS is about the same size as the DSI XL, which makes it taller and wider than other clamshell gaming handhelds like the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 (curr. $269 on Amazon).
Now, the company has shown what dual-screen modes the RG DS supports before the device's official launch. Embedded below, it seems that it is possible to use either display to emulate a single-screen game while keeping the second panel free for other content. For instance, Anbernic shows playing a video on one display and gaming on the other or using the second display to follow a walkthrough when gaming.
Anbernic is still keeping fans in the dark about when the RG DS will be available. Potentially, that could be because of today's Retroid Pocket G2 and Retroid Pocket 6 announcements though, full details of which we have covered in dedicated Pocket G2 and Pocket 6 launch articles. Regardless, it seems unlikely that Anbernic will begin selling the RG DS before the start of November.
